I am an artist, a writer and a Soldier. I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, in the north side of the city called “Korea Town.” I learned the meaning and value of hard work from my Korean parents, who migrated to Chicago during the 1970s. They operated a humble dry-cleaning business and emphasized the importance of earning a good education.
In 2001, I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Computer Graphics from Northeastern Illinois University, with a Minor in Criminal Justice. In 2006, I graduated with a Master of Fine Arts Degree in 3D Computer Animation from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, with a thesis focus on crime scene reconstruction.
After graduation, I enlisted into the California Army National Guard to become an MP (Military Police). I have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, and continue to serve in the Guard today. Military themes can be seen throughout my artwork and writing.
As a civilian, I currently work as a Visual Information Specialist in North Carolina. My hobbies include international travel, hiking, learning outdoor survival skills, jiu jitsu, kickboxing and karate.
